Hij is 25 jaar, geboren in Calgary, is 1m80 groot en weegt 83kg. Brad speelde in zijn thuisland voornamelijk in de Alberta Junior Hockey League (Calgary Mustangs en Spruce Grove Saints) en de Western Hockey League (Medicine Hat Tigers). Na een seizoen in de universiteitscompetitie waar hij voor York University uitkwam, speelde hij voor de Nanton Palominos in de Ranchland Hockey League.

Afgelopen seizoen maakte hij de oversteek naar Europa, waar hij in de tweede Franse Divisie bij Straatsburg landde. Hij speelde vorig seizoen 25 wedstrijden voor Straatsburg, waarin hij 3 keer scoorde, 5 assists liet noteren en 10 strafminuten kreeg.

“Brad was a player we brought into Spruce Grove in hopes of pushing us over the top in pursuit of a league championship. Brad not only lived up to the hype on the ice but was a favorite of coaches, teammates and the fans which I think speaks volumes to the type of person Brad is. He comes off quiet but is very social and outgoing with those he trusts. On the ice he has an elite ability to escape first pressure and his puck distribution skills and ability to see and read ice is strong. While his play with the puck stands out, he is quietly very responsible without the puck. He understands how to use his size to his advantage and has a very good stick that he uses to disrupt plays. In the final game of the AJHL championship with 30 seconds left in the game I sent Brad out with a 17 year old D partner to take the dz faceoff. Brad had always showed strong situational awareness and I trusted in that moment that he would lead for us.

He was able to collect the puck and pin it against the wall to burn valuable time off the clock and lead to our championship. I am proud of the relationship I had with Brad and will always remember that moment when I look back on that team. He also has some coaching experience in his arsenal now which would only contribute to his ability to see and read the game. He is a valuable player to have on your roster, a glue guy in the room and has the growth mindset necessary to contribute wherever he is and he could play for me anytime he wants.”

Jeffrey van Iersel vult aan: “Brad zal onze verdediging moeten gaan leiden dit jaar. Hij is een heel goede schaatser en erg secuur in zijn 1e pass. Hij zal naast zijn verdedigende kwaliteiten ook zijn aanvallende bijdragen gaan leveren en een grote impact hebben op onze powerplay komend jaar. Brad was de eerste import die we hebben vastgelegd. Na het zien van zijn spel was het voor mij snel duidelijk dat we deze jongen moesten contracteren.”
