Aan de vooravond van de BeNe League play-offs, verwelkomt de ploeg van coaches Jeffrey van Iersel en Alf Philippen de broodnodige versterking voor de kwartfinale tegen Herentals.

Luca Heutmekers maakt na ruim 4 maanden afwezigheid zijn rentree in de selectie van Snackpoint Eaters Limburg. De populaire aanvaller raakte al in de voorbereiding campagne geblesseerd na een ongelukkige val tegen de boarding. Luca: “Ik heb nog drie wedstrijden meegespeeld tot medio oktober ergens maar ik bleef te veel last houden. Er moest een operatie aan te pas komen en dat gebeurde op 24 november.” Nu is Luca dus weer klaar om mee te spelen.

Naast Luca maakt er nog iemand zijn comeback bij het Geleense team in de BeNe League – niemand minder dan Akim Ramoul. Hij verdedigde drie seizoenen geleden voor het laatst de Geleense kleuren op het hoogste niveau en was toen in 12 wedstrijden goed voor 5 doelpunten, 12 assists en 35 strafminuten. Akim: “Ik doe al een paar maanden mee met het eredivisieteam en heb afgelopen week met het team van Snackpoint Eaters Limburg meegetraind. Dat ging vrij goed.”

Over de serie tegen Herentals zegt Luca: “Het zal niet gemakkelijk worden maar we kunnen ze hebben. We moeten er niet te licht over denken en zorgen dat we er zaterdag vol ingaan.”

Iets wat Akim beaamt: “Vol gas en voor iedere puck gaan! Eigenlijk zoals ik altijd gespeeld heb. Ik kijk er enorm naar uit om weer in Geleen te kunnen spelen. Ik heb veel wedstrijden gezien en fans spraken me regelmatig aan dat ik aan de verkeerde kant van de boarding stond. Nu is het dus zover en gaan we onze uiterste best doen om zo ver mogelijk te komen. Ik had graag met mijn vertrouwde rugnummer gespeeld maar heb in #19 een mooi alternatief gevonden.”
